“Writers don’t make any money.” Right? Wrong! Award-winning novelist J.H. Moncrieff has made a living with her writing for over 20 years, and in this class, she shares some tricks of the trade. Drawing on her background in marketing and publicity, she’ll teach you the ultimate goal of social media, how to make money with freelance writing, and how to successfully market yourself to potential readers, agents, and editors. SCHEDULE: Tuesday, May 14, 2:00 to 3:00 PM This presentation will take place online. You will receive a link to the class by email 24 hours before the presentation begins. ABOUT THE PRESENTER: J.H. Moncrieff, APR is an award-winning novelist, instructor, documentarian, and editor. Her novel City of Ghosts won the Kindle Book Review Award for Best Horror/Suspense. Moncrieff began her writing career as a journalist, tracking down snipers and canoeing through crocodile-infested waters. Her articles have appeared in many publications, including Chatelaine, FLARE, Writer’s Digest, The Winnipeg Free Press and The Globe and Mail. She has taught students all over the world, including the US and Romania, and is passionate about helping them find success in the writing, public relations and marketing industries, and to avoid the mistakes she’s made. Along with writing, she’s a documentarian/writer expert for the true-crime series Cruise Ship Killers, Sunshine Slayings, Targeted for Murder, An Hour to Kill, and Death of the Party. She taught at a number of Winnipeg schools, including the University of Winnipeg, Robertson College, Louis Riel School Division, and McNally Robinson’s Community Classroom. When not writing or teaching, she loves exploring haunted places, advocating for animal rights, and summoning her inner ninja in muay thai class.
