An Introduction to the Haiku

Program Details

Haiku are unrhymed poems consisting of about 17 syllables spread over three lines. This poetry form started in Japan and has been very popular in many countries around the world for decades. In this four-week introductory session, you will learn what makes the haiku so special. Cendrine Marrouat will delve into some history, introduce you to a few prominent haiku poets, and teach you to craft your own impactful haiku. The last two weeks will be dedicated to sharing and discussing your own poems with the group. FEE: This program is free for patrons. SCHEDULE: Four Fridays, May 2 to 23 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM FORMAT: This is an online program. A link will be emailed at the time of registration and again one day before the presentation. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Cendrine Marrouat is a poet, writer, photographer, watercolor painter, digital artist, and the co-founder of Auroras & Blossoms and A Warm Cup of Cozy.
